: $55,800 to $61,000, with an additional $7,000 for each of up to two courses taught per academic year pending adequate student enrollment
Job Description:
This position is responsible for creating lighting and scenic designs, and for creating or facilitating projection/multimedia design for all TND productions. The resident designer also mentors and instructs students in lighting/scenic/multimedia design. These skills/design areas are essential to the departmental mission: to provide opportunities for students to expand their aesthetic understanding of the field, to engage students in experiential learning that applies their knowledge toward Theatre and Dance production, and to create high-level and thought-provoking performances for campus and community audiences.
Essential Functions:
Create lighting, scenic, lighting, and (when needed) facilitate or create multimedia designs for all TND Theatre performances and Dance concerts each academic year.
Teach two courses per year in scenic, lighting, multimedia design, or related fields; teaching assignment determined in consultation with the chair of Theatre and Dance
Recruit, hire and train a student lighting crew. Schedule and supervise that crew (functioning as Master Electrician) for all TND productions
Engage in interdisciplinary curriculum development; develop partnerships as appropriate with other departments (linking and exploring design areas, entertainment technologies, emerging technologies etc.)
Supervise, in coordination with the Production Manager, student use of the Other Room Theatre. Research and implement opportunities for developing the capabilities of that space, and TND performance spaces generally, toward emerging digital performance technologies.

Requirements:
Masters degree in theatre design is required
A minimum of 4 years experience in theatrical design for theatre and dance productions and experience as theatrical master electrician; college-level teaching experience desirable
Intermediate level of proficiency using computer-aided drafting software is required
Ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential.
