Profile

The Edmunds Middle School Band program is looking to hire a Paraeducator to assistant in the Band program. We are a very enthusiastic and large performance music program with great community support. You will be engaging students in 6, 7 and 8th grade in learning instruments, their band music and what good musicianship.

Job Requirements:

• a degree in higher education (BA, MA, or MAT)

Required Qualifications:

1. A background in education and music education.

2. Experience teaching lessons and group lessons.

3. Proficient at the middle school level in reading, performance on primary instrument, aural skills and general musicianship.

4. A woodwinds expert

5. Enjoys working with children ages 11-14.

6. Enthusiastic to share their love of music with students and the community at large

7. Available Monday-Friday 7:45 - 3:15pm

8. Ability to attend concerts: 3-4 per year

As part of the hiring process you will be asked to:

1. Provide your resume and 2-3 references that can speak to your teaching skill

2. Attend an interview

    2a. As a part of the interview please prepare to speak to how you can assist the band at EMS to be inclusive of all students.

    2b. Share a few artist videos that you think would connect with middle school students through a lense of diversity, social justice and creative process.

3. The interview will include a short audition:

    A performance piece of your choosing on your primary instrument (1-2 Min.)              

    A lesson: Select a piece of music to teach on a secondary instrument

    Sight reading: You will be asked to sight read a part on your secondary instrument
