Head Electrician - VStar Entertainment Tours - PAW Patrol Live! - The Great Pirate Adventure
Touring Position
Start Date: Travel 3/11/2022; Begin Work 3/12/2022
End Date: 8/8/2022 for Tour Refurb

Hold your breath and dive into the action: are you ready to work for one of VStar's touring shows? We are looking for a Head Electrician. As part of the touring crew and reporting to the Production Manager, the Head Electrician will work with the Company Manager, Performance Director and Production Manager to provide supervision, administration, operation and maintenance of all electric department systems and personnel for assigned VStar touring show.
The Head Electrician will:
- Function as a ''hands on'' department head working with technical staff to provide maintenance and upkeep of all lighting, special effects, video, sound, and rigging electrical systems;
- Plan and implement maintenance procedures for lighting, sound, video, rigging electrical systems and special effects equipment. Assess systems maintenance needs and implement necessary steps to assure operational safety and integrity;
- Work with the Production Manager and the Operations Team to maintain the artistic ''look'' of the show from performance and operation standpoints. Operate the lighting system during performances, includes calling follow spot cues;
- Work with VStar Operations Department, Company Manager, Production Stage Manager, and other department heads to advance the show into each building and to perform site inspection of possible future buildings;
- Supervise the Assistant Electrician, Sound Department, Video Tech/A2 and local crews in the load in, focus, operation and load out of the lighting and sound systems for the event. Troubleshoot any technical problems encountered. Inform Company Manager, Production Manager and ASD of any problems requiring shop assistance;
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all VStar employees;
- Be present at pre-rig to make decisions about front of house lighting and sound placement;
- Work with the ASD production shop and staff during summer production to manufacture, layout and label all lighting, special effects, video, sound and rigging electrical systems;
- Work with ASD during summer production to prepare the assigned show for touring. These duties include accepting training for set-up of the lighting and sound systems, troubleshooting, cueing of all changes, marking & labeling of all electric department items and standard refurbishment of lighting and sound equipment;
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with outside vendors and clients;
- Work with ASD staff throughout tour to assess problems with show equipment and provide possible solutions;
- Keep the ASD electric department manager informed of all matters, which require immediate attention;
- Maintain current paperwork, which includes, but is not limited to, system designs (light plot as well as circuit layouts), cue sheets, and equipment lists for electrical aspects of your event;
- Maintain an up to date archive of labeled show disks from the lighting consoles;
- Work with the Company Manager and the Production Manager to maintain and control electric operation expenses and budgets;
- Adhere to all established safety guidelines, including relevant parts of the National Electrical Code and standards set by ASD;
- Adhere to and enforces all established guidelines and safety procedures outlined in VStar Road Crew handbook;
- Must use safety lines and harness that meet current industry standards. No deviations from this will be tolerated;
- Perform assigned duties and responsibilities under minimal supervision, recognizing when assistance is required;
- Effectively train, develop and evaluate assigned staff;
- Assist other departments on projects with short deadlines and/or peak workloads;
- All other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- At least 1-5 years of previous experience as an Electrician in a similar or related environment;
- Strong understanding of theatrical terms and directions;
- Ability to work as a member of team; can comprehend and follow oral, written and diagram instructions;
- Can work extensive and irregular work hours; early morning, afternoon, evening, late evening, weekend, and holidays is common;
- Knowledgeable in ''high'' focus or truss focus;
- Active IATSE member or will join union;
- If applicable for the tours travel schedule must be and remain in good standing with all proper authorities throughout the Services Period, including maintaining the validity of one's passport and the ability to travel internationally.
- Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and booster by date of hire to be considered for employment;
- Verification of the right to work in the United States for VStar Entertainment Group, as demonstrated by completion of the Form I-9 upon hire and the submission of acceptable documentation (as noted on the Form I-9) verifying one's identity and work authorization;
- Ability to pass a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law;
- Ability to travel by plane, train, bus & other modes of transportation;
- Live and work in one or more different cities every week.
