Background
The Quality Assurance Officer will provide high quality support in coordinating the delivery and implementation of the NFTS’s quality assurance and academic development arrangements. This is a key role for the NFTS and the Quality Assurance Officer will liaise closely with Heads of Department and Course Coordinators across the NFTS’s suite of courses.
Job Purpose
To support the Quality Assurance Manager in the operational delivery and effective implementation of the NFTS’s quality assurance and academic development arrangements.
Main Responsibilities
Support, implement, coordinate and enhance the NFTS’s work across the annual quality assurance cycle.
Act as a point of contact and guidance for staff on the NFTS’s quality assurance processes and requirements.
Implement the smooth running of Periodic Review, Course Approval and Validation, and Annual Course Evaluation processes.
Implement processes to support the External Examiners, including scheduling meetings and acting as a point of contact for External Examiners, and support the compilation of responses to the External Examiners’ reports.
Implement processes to support the Industry Reviewers, including assisting in their engagement and preparing an annual Industry Reviewer report.
Maintain student records in File Maker and internal quality assurance databases.
Assist with maintaining and updating student handbooks and course documentation.
Support the maintenance and updating of the Quality Assurance Handbook, student policies and regulations, websites, taking into account sector guidance and good practice from the QAA, OfS, OIA, UUK and others.
Support the Academic Standards Committee, including collecting and circulating papers, assisting to develop the agenda, taking minutes, ensuring follow-up action is taken.
Support the provision of management information data.
Support the Registrar and the Quality Assurance Manager with the handling of student complaints, appeals and disciplinaries, including preparing and circulating documentation, acting as a point of contact and assisting with investigations.
Assist with the annual student survey, including extracting and analysing results at both a high level and in more depth for analysis.
Implement processes for the annual election of the Student Union President and Student Representatives.
Assist in developing quality assurance systems, guidance and staff development seminars.

Person Specification
Educated to degree level or equivalent, or with equivalent skills and experience at an appropriate level.
Knowledge of the quality assurance context within Higher Education.
Excellent writing and oral communication skills, with good attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people.
Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise appropriately, manage projects with competing deadlines, and ensure tight deadlines are met.
Excellent IT skills, including in the use of Microsoft packages, Excel, databases and SurveyMonkey.
Previous experience in providing high quality administrative support.
Able to work as part of a team and in partnership with others.
Able to navigate complex situations and differing viewpoints confidentially and professionally.
Able to appreciate and manage the differing needs of stakeholders and assist to identify and implement appropriate solutions.
A willingness to be flexible towards duties and adaptable to change.
An understanding of the legislative framework for Higher Education including data protection, the Equality Act and the Prevent Duty.
