We are looking for an entrepreneurial communications professional to join our organization assisting proactive and reactive public relations and strategic communications for the Brand Communications team. The Brand Communications Coordinator supports the execution of all Suns’ communication strategies and works directly with local and national media to maximize earned media coverage with a heavy emphasis on the organization, the Suns and Mercury brands, Footprint Center events, and community initiatives to help achieve organizational goals. The Brand Communications Coordinator will also work across all functional teams including broadcast, digital, social, marketing, sales and game presentation to curate and amplify brand content across various mediums.
What You Will Do:
• Formulate and execute year-round communications plans with focus on elevating the business and community efforts of the nation’s leading sports and entertainment company, Suns Legacy Partners, LLC.
• Pitch and place business, entertainment, and human-interest stories with local and national media outlets
• Internally, pitch and prepare editorial narratives for Suns.com in support of overarching goals
• Draft copy for wide range of channels including graphics, billboards, video scripts and speeches, to name a few
• Maintain confidentiality as it relates to information the Communications department is privy to
• Assist in managing media requests (local, regional and national) that come into Suns Legacy Partners
• Support Basketball Communications as needed for game day responsibilities
What We Need From Our Coordinator:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel & PowerPoint
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
• Ability to prioritize projects effectively
• Professional and personable demeanor and approach
• Assist with special events and projects as assigned
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Bilingual/Spanish speaking, as well as experience with local Hispanic media partners preferred
• Relationships with local/national media partners is preferred
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications, business or a related field
• Experience in pitching stories to media is highly preferred
• Copywriting experience highly preferred
• Experience in coordinating events and special projects is a plus
