Director, Original Content (Paramount )
Paramount , a direct-to-consumer digital subscription video on-demand and live streaming service from ViacomCBS, combines live sports, breaking news, and a mountain of entertainment. Overview and Responsibilities:
Paramount is seeking an experienced creative executive with exceptional business skills to join our Paramount original content team. The Director, Original Content will lead the development, creation and production of premium streaming content specifically for Paramount .
Responsibilities
include but are not limited to:
• Serve as a point of contact for the creative community to help identify new talent and incoming projects
• Field pitches, read specs, identify new business opportunities and secure new talent for projects in development
• Assist in launching shows from script to series by giving notes on story documents, outlines and scripts, being responsible for hiring writing staff and episodic directors, etc.
• Work closely with various departments internally to communicate information and act as a liaison for specific series/projects
• Build and maintain relationships with production partners including: studio executives, producers, writers, directors, actors, agents, managers, etc.
• Help establish the strategic goals of the department by identifying trends, brainstorming ideas, determining needs, etc.
• Additional other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
• 5 years of related work experience
• Previous experience with creative development or current series
• Bachelor's degree in media, business, entertainment, or other related fields preferred
• Strong PC skills with Excel, Word and Outlook
Additional Qualifications:
• Avid book reader and or film and television connoisseur
• Demonstrated knowledge of story development and the production process
• Self-motivated to develop new ideas and seek out new ideas/writers/sources
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with all levels of management
• Ability to multitask and manage complex projects
• Organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize work in order to meet deadlines
• Effective time management skills
