At VSI LA, we specialize in producing English dubs for some of the highest-profile foreign film, television, and
streaming content.
Summary
We are looking for a DUBBING SCRIPT EDITOR to join our team and help produce comprehensive scripts for
film and TV dubbing projects from a variety of original languages and clients. Our ideal candidate is a fast learner
that brings with them a passion for creative writing and a background that includes some technical post-production
experience (such as video or sound editing).
As part of our team, you would help ensure scripting materials meet a high standard of quality on the front and
back end of adaptation and develop a detailed understanding of the entire dubbing process through the lens of
script services.
This is a full-time position.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing incoming dialogue lists (initial translated scripts from clients).
- Spotting translated scripts for adaptation.
- Accurately splitting and retiming lines when needed.
- Adding and flagging lines missing from the original dialogue list.
- Ensuring dialogue is assigned to the correct characters.
- Performing quality checks on incoming adapted scripts.
- Reviewing dialogue and naming conventions to ensure consistency across episodes & seasons.
- Checking for proper spotting and labeling of breaths, reactions, pulled lines, and Walla cues.
- Performing in-house script conforms and creating as-recorded scripts for delivery when needed.
- Tackling any technical scripting issues that arise during the various stages of dubbing.
- Building the creative and technical skills required for English dub adaptation. Skills and Experience
- Native fluency in English. Knowledge of other languages is a plus.
- An analytical mindset and meticulous attention to detail.
- A sharp eye for lip sync and ear for spoken rhythm.
- Strong computer literacy. Skilled in the use of the Microsoft 365 suite, Google Drive, and project management software.
- Familiarity with timeline-based video/sound/text editing software (Adobe Premiere, Avid Media Composer, Pro Tools, Mosaic, VoiceQ,
etc.)
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn the ins and outs of the dub scripting tool, VoiceQ.
- The ability to process feedback and work efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable effective creative collaboration
